*Petra Praise: The Rock Cries Out* was the first of three "praise & worship" albums recorded by Petra. Petra received its first RIAA-certified Gold Album for sales in excess of 500,000 copies of *Petra Praise: The Rock Cries Out. In addition, Petra earned a Dove Award for the album in 1990, for Recorded Music Packaging of the Year. A Spanish version of the album, titled Petra En Alabanza*, was released in 1992; one song from the original English version is omitted from the Spanish version.
